Rat Health Care eBook Debbie Ducommun Reviews
informative, useful book to have on your shelf if you own furry babies or are thinking about buying a couple (best bought in same sex pairs)
a go to guide for your rats health care. you are never over knowledgable, there is always one more thing you can learn., every little bit of information you glean never goes to waste, and makes you a better guardian for your animals
I've had several versions of the Rat Health Care booklet over the years. The information contained is invaluable to pet owners, as well as vets- her information is backed by medical professionals and research. It is up-to-date with the most effective and beneficial treatments for our little pets.
This book has information on sick pet care, orphaned baby care, injuries, lists of safe medications and dosages (as well as side effects), and even discusses home euthanasia. It is WORTH IT and more.
If you spend any amount of time online reading about rats and their care, you'll run across this Author's name, Debbie Ducomunn as she was considered one of the foremost authorities on all things rats. Whether you have rats, plan to get rats, or care for other people's rats, this book is the one to get. it's 169 pages, and very easy to read. it covers everything and dispels many myths about rats. The domestic rat is truly a great pet for young and old alike.
A must have book for anyone who owns a Pet Rat. My only issue with this book here on is it is only offered in the format. Still if you own a pet rat or are a vet who works on rats (and you have a , a tablet, a computer, a smartphone or anything that will run the Reader App) you will find a lot of useful information on Rat Health Care that is quite useful. Actually for the price you can not go wrong. Me I hate the format and prefer real books, still I did purchase this and it sits on my tablet only to find how useful the information is, that when I found the book I actually purchased it at twice the price of the version.
This booklet is a must for pet rat owners. The information on diseases, medications, nursing care and first aid is crucial. There is a steep learning curve for new rat owners, and this book has been a godsend to me. Many vets don't know much about rats, and they are glad to have the suggested dosages. Some people get a spare copy to leave with their vet.
I was pleased to see a downloadable version available. I have a hard copy at home as well as electronic copies on my phone and tablet.
The only thing wrong with the booklet is a misleading page about home euthanasia. Instronglybdisagree with it. This really should be removed from the book; I have it on good authority that there is no reliable method of home euthanasia!
If you disregard that section, you will find a wealth of practical information to guide you in the care of your pet rats.
I am a new rat owner and a vet assistant in training. I found the information in this book to be extremely valuable. I downloaded the ebook so I always have it to reference at a moments notice. I think all rat owners should purchase this.
There isn't a better reference guide in all the world for those who care for pet ratties - the information in here is probably 10x what your veterinarian has been taught. If you can find a vet - they're considered "exotic pets" so a lot of treatment needs to be done at home. We have had several ratties over the years (Marble, Mocha and Latte are our newest) and most of them have led long, happy lives thanks to the wonderful information in this book. Most of the info in this book is actually posted online - by Debbie and by people "quoting" her work - but this all-inclusive book is a life-saver. literally. I would have paid twice as much for it. Thank you, Rat Lady!
A must have book (or e-book) for every rat owner. When possible a vet should be consulted for health problems but in the event there isn't an exotics vet in the area -or if you just want to see if it's something that needs a vet visit- this book is a valuable resource.
